2012 C30 D3 R Design

As title looking to sell my C30 D3 R Design. It's a 2012 in Red with 95K on the clock, I'm the 2nd owner, 1st owner was a company so the majority of the 87K on the clock when I purchased it, was motorway miles. The car has wanted for nothing, has a FSH. It had a new clutch and DMF in January, a remap in July (is about 200bhp), recent new front discs and pads, new rear discs and pads being fitted at the weekend.

*

It has the usual R Design spec, has the full black R design seats, bluetooth with music steaming, rear parking aids, trup computer etc.

*

In the time I've owned it, it's had freshly powder coated Black Focus ST alloys with new Unrioyal Rainsport 3's, plasti dipped front grill, fog surrounds, and rear badges, Carbon dipped wing mirror covers, handbrake surrond, and centre console, skull dipped interior handles, and CD surround, Carbon Rhino lip front splitter, Blue LED interior lights, upgraded headlight bulbs, calipers painted red, and wind deflectors fitted.

*

The car is in really good condition, and drives amazingly, the remap makes it rapid, and it still returns 45 mpg on my short commute (up to high 40's on a long run).

*

I am only selling as my commute has now more thank halved, and my girl friend upgraded to a V60 (from a yaris yuk) so it doesn't even get used for our long journeys now. So it's basically getting used for 60 miles a week, and it's not worth keeping a diesel for that. So now I'm doing far less miles a T5 is now an option again, so I'll be looking for a T5.

*

Looking for £6000, the private plate will not be sold with the car it will be going back to the original plate.

I would be interested in swapping, or part ex ing for a T5, preferable a C70.

Just to say that you're basically selling my wet dream, unfortunately I can't stretch to £6k until next year! What a shame!!

I'm actually going to look at 12 month cash advance credit cards to see if it could be done. BRB :D

Is the remap detectable by insurance loss adjuster inspections? If I declare that it'll add £150 a year to the premium, and it's the main reason I have avoided modified cars so far. Otherwise insurance is pleasingly cheap, even with the other modifications declared it's only £100 more than my V40.

I really didn't think I'd struggle to sell the C30 :-(, do you guys think it would sell easier if I put it back to standard??.

At this rate looks like it will be getting traded in, been on Egay twice and didn't even make the trade in I'd been offered, and if I trade it in I can return to standard and sell the mod parts

Sadly that'd be the easiest way. People want everything for nothing these days, I would typically change my car every year but with the trouble of selling private I've modded the V50 instead of selling to keep my desire to change at bay. For me, the car looks spot on externally, it's a really nice look you've gone for but IMO I'd put the interior back to standard as the regular R-Design trim suits it better but that's all IMO of course.

It's looking like I'm going to keep it, it's been on ebay twice and hasn't even made what I've been offered for trade in. I don't have a lot of cash to put on top of the trade in and looking at what I can get for the cash I have plus the trade in, are worse options than the C30.

So looks like it's going to stay till I can save up more cash, no point trading it in and having to pay money to get a worse car.

yeh selling cars is pretty tough, my last 3 cars ive just drove to the showroom with my old one and out with another one. I know I lose quite a bit on them but such is life and cant worry too much about it, as I cant stand selling private anymore.

anyway yeh +1 on sacha, you would get more interest if the interior was brought back to standard ... but that is a really nice tidy looking C30

Looking like the car may be going at the weekend, have someone travelling from down Sooooouuuuth to look at it, 4hour trip for him on the train, so looks like it's time to start looking for a replacement, sadly due to the lack of decent T5's about I think it may be a none volvo replacement :-( .

domhart10 Oct 25th, 2017 16:13

that's good news

Yeh didn't really believe it but after looking on Auto Trader it does seem pretty difficult to find T5's. I think this was the only C70 T5 on auto trader and that was at the 200 mile mark

scoobysn7x Oct 25th, 2017 17:04

I manage to find a couple local (ish), one was even a manual but was a total shed, there was a one that looked amazing on autotrader and it was awful honestly think the dealer photographed a different car. Travelled 40 miles to see it and it drove awful, auto box didnt want to kick down, juddering under accelaration, worse juddering when trying to kick down, brake non existent worst car I've ever driven!.

So the shortlist is now down to the following

Civic Type R
Golf GTi
Octavia VRS
Focus ST
Saab 9-3 Aero

I've found what look like very good examples of the Type R, GTi, and Aero so going to see them on saturday, the VRS is basically a GTi and I'd prefer the gold over the Octavia.

I'm struggling to find a decent ST, that not been messed with, less than 100K, and a decent price, I can't help feel that it's a cheap mans T5, and I won't like it as a result, and the ST will give the worst MPG.

I can't pick between the Type R, GTi, and aero, I've driven them all before and the GTi impressed me the most but I've always fancied a type R. So figure test good examples of each, and get the one I like the best.

Well the C30 is sold went yesterday and picked the new car up last night, looked at a few cars last week, and had a really good think, I realised that as much as I'd like to get a petrol turbo, I'm so used to getting 40+mpg, the cheap road tax, and the cheaper insurance that realistically paying all this extra to ended up with an older car was just not a good option. It also made me realise (after trying other cars) that I really wanted to stay with a volvo.

After I had come to this realisation I was really tempted to keep the C30, but in reality I was getting such a good price off the buyer, if I didn't sell I would have regretted it.

So with that in mind I changed the focus at the weekend and looked for something just a little more pratical, with a bit more space. I went to look at 3 cars a S40, a S80 2.5t auto, and a V60 D4. S40 was a shed, S80 was decent but just didn't feel right (bit old mans style car), and had a cream interior that was just a bit manky, also the car tax was extortionate. So I went to see the V60 it was way over my budget, highish miles, and no confirmation of timing belt.

Well saw it loved it, it's highish mile but drove like new, timing belt sticker on the engine, and corresponding stamp in the service book, couple of little niggles (chip in the windscreen, alloys curbed, front bumper stone chipped), but had amazing service history, including £400 main dealer service last month. So I had to get it, seller came right down on the price, so I ended up paying less than I was happy to. So all in all a very good weekends work.

I've ended up with a newer car for not much more money at all, and I've covered a lot of this cost by selling the spare parts/accessories of the C30
