S40 2011 spec delay

My wife was just on the phone to confirm her order for a new S40SE -
she was to clarify trim and accessories before the order was finalised

The dealer has just informed her that all new orders have been put on hold by
Volvo until next week pending release of the 2011 model specifications.

It doesn't apply to the XC90 range - not that her budget would get that far :-)

Any info/ideas on this new spec or is it just Sales delaying antics?

Cheers

Ah! That could explain the delay of my new car....

I wonder differences the 2011 MY spec will offer.

Isn't the S40 being phased out now that the new S60 is going on sale?

Not confirmed yet. Although they are very close in size.....

LxWxH (all in mm)
S40 4476x2022x1454
S60 4628x2097x1484

S60 is only 15cm longer, 7cm wider and 3cm taller so quite close.

Some rumours have been around saying S40 to be discountinued or being made smaller. Time will tell.

I have it on good authority that the S40 will defo be phased out by the end of this year and it will overlap with the S60 until then but the S60 will ultimately replace it.

V60 at the end of the year will replace the V50 early next year

Negotiate hard if you are ordering an S40:thumbs_up:

Thanks for the updates guys.

She actually phoned 3 times this morning to 'pin down' the salesman to complete her order -
"he's with another customer - leave me your number and he'll call you back" was the stock answer :musical_note:

She finally got through when, yet again, he was unavailable and she said she was leaving work to go to her Gran's funeral
and would be unavailable to speak with regards completing his sale ................. lo and behold -
he had just concluded with the customer and was actualy about to phone HER!!!!

Then the speil about delays etc ........ he will phone her back next week when the 2011 specs are released to them and they can finalise the deal.

Big thanks with the heads up regards the S40/S60 situation - never knew about that possible scenario.

Cheers

Going to order my wife a new S40 D SE Lux in the next week or so and would be greatfull to know what kind of discounts people are getting on the S40s.

Drive The Deal only goes as far as 9% which seems very small considering KrisSWFC comment above. 9% is what you would expect to get normally, but not for a soon to be discontinued model.

We're not the best hagglers - asked for Volvo Loyalty Bonus as 2 volvo owners and got the 20% discount without much hassle.

Scrappage deal wasn't available and we didn't get much further.

Oh to be more resilient!!!

You should be able to get 20% without pushing to hard. It's offered on the Volvo website now as 'swappage', but depending on whether you want to trade in or not - shouldn't be to hard a deal to get.

Thanks for this info.

Unfortunalty our current S40 is a 55 reg, so will not qualify. However, I will haggle hard for a good discount, especially as the S40 is soon to be discontinued.
