anyone fitted wingnuts to a 940 turbo exhaust manifold?

third time off since I've owned Moomin. My own fault this time so owning up to help anyone else hurrying to refit the manifold gaskets in fading light.

They fit two ways, but only one way is correct. I got three out of four wrong!

Worth double-checking what with all the drama involved in dropping the turbo and removing the manifold.

just an update - Moomin passed his WOF (MOT) in one sitting last weekend and has been stretching his legs into summer. A bit of a rough idle atm (sounds lean, but more investigation needed) but a sprint down the southern motorway in Auckland says he is happy to be out and about! No chuffing noises, lots of forward motion.

Congrats on passing the WoF Ash but i'm curious about something - what are you calling wing nuts?

That's what i've always known as a wing nut, can't see how that would ever be included on an exhaust/turbo set-up as it won't take the torque (or heat!) so i'm guessing it's something different that is known as a wing nut in NZ? Perhaps what we know as an Aerotite nut?

Meant to ask earlier when your first post appeared but forgot................

They're exactly the wing nuts I thought of!

wing nuts are not the way to mount manifolds.

I think that the OP was making a joke regarding having to remove the manifold so many times!
Whoosh parrot went thata way!

I'm not so sure! :nah:

Also knowing some terminology is different "Down Under" (for example, light bulbs are often called light globes) it's possible he's referring to a different kind of nut but for the definitive answer, we'll have to wait for Ash (the OP) to wake from his beauty sleep and enlighten us.

The 'bear got it right.

Just to ease your mind Dave, it gets fresh copper aerotites each time. I feel I have shares in a copper mine.

Just had the window switches out this arvo as well since my SO was complaining that her window goes down, but not up. The usual clean-out of a quarter-century of carbonated crud and her window now go up AND down.

Just wish Moomin had a chauffeur's panel. I wouldn't have to listen to the complaining then...
