"Split" Leather on front seat base - quick removal guide

Hi guys,

Finally got round to trying to fix the "split" in the middle of the 2 front seat bases on my 54 XC90 SE Exec.

I had read this article http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=211706

Which mentions hog rings holding everything in place / removal of 4 x seat bolts required etc...

I started on the passenger seat, removed the 4 x bolts, tilted the seat forwards. Saw no hog rings!? Just a long plastic clip on the back, 2 on each side and 1 on the front!

Unclipped them, seat base comes loose then just a case of tracing the cable which clips into a multiblock under the seat, there's a ziptie you need some snips for. (green + a grey one on the passenger seat, just a green one on the drivers seat)

The base is then free, the leather is clipped into the foam of the base but you can actually just slide this out from the base instead of unclipping (and slide back in, I did double check!)

After realising how easy it was, on the drivers seat I had the leather off in ten minutes with no need to remove anything other than the plastic long clips and the green connector!

Wish I had done it months ago!!!

Sorry if i'm covering the same topic again but I couldn't find anything other than the link above on how to do it with the "hog ring" guide.

I need to do both of mine too. Thanks for the tips - not such a big job then :-)

A lot easier than you think, not sure if this is different per model but easy to check if you have the plastic strip clips.
