Anti-Skid Service Required

Well, after a year I've clocked less than 10,000 km;
With this XC90 T6 2.9L, driving has been a pleasure.
I have been bugged by the appearance of "Anti-Skid Service Required" prompt, and my dealer has failed to fix the problem after electronic checks and resets (?).

Can anybody here let me know whether I need to press any button in this car when I am prompted with that message, or is there something wrong with the brakes?

Please be so kind to reply,

Thanks.

Had the same early on at about 17,000 and had to have a new module fittedno problems since until last week when at 43,000 had the message come up that the park assist needs a service will have to go in and have it checked on computor, but the message is not always on when I start up.

New Module?

GJB, please tell me what's a new module? Is it an electronic part?
My Volvo agent have asked me to bring the Volvo in for a Diagnostic, says something is amiss with the braking system.

An electronic box under bonnet should take no more than 15 mins to fix

Try a different dealer. With an error like that, the dealer should be able to pull the fault code/s quite easily and identify which component/s need addressing.

Basically your brakes are fine - but you may not have ABS and/or limited or none DSTC, but this is usually a seperate message., but if the ABS is affected then this usually is as well. Depends on what the actual fault is though.

If you've only done 10K though still in warranty so make sure it's corrected to your satisfaction.

Thanks!

Thanks guys and noted. So far message came on once after visiting the dealer, but has not appeared again.

Even if the fault has cleared, it will still be readable by the Main stealer.
If your just waiting for it to appear again before taking it in there's no need.

As a thought - give all the wheels a damn good wash with a hose, both from the outside and the inside. It has been known that brake dust can affect the ABS speed sensors on each wheel. With an intermittant fault as your experiencing it's worth a shot.

Thanks Vipes

Thanks for your suggestion about washing the brakes, will definitely try it. The message anti skid service required has appeared a second time!

I had the same issue, took it back to my dealer who rectified the fault (FOC under warranty). They even gave my car a free valet too!

I had that message and my independent Volvo specialist diagnosed a faulty abs yaw/lateral accelerometer sensor. He changed it and no problem since.
