Xc60 r design or se nav
 

I am considering buying a used Xc 60 1h 2017 model but cannot decide between the xc60 r design or the se nav model I have test driven both and found the se not to be as smooth but this may have been the specific car I drove i intend using the car for long distance holidays as cannot fly so comfort is an important factor the seats in the r design were sporty type but are these comfortable on a long distance drive

Are there any real noticeable differences in comfort between the two models appreciate the members views many thanks

I did have the XC60 SE Nav and it was great I could not see the reason for R design model at the time I have just bought the New XC60 inscription excellent

You need an extended test drive

I've never driven an R Design, but will say my SE Lux is very comfortable, allowing me to drive 200 miles easily without the need to stop for a break if I wish.

I would imagine the R Design would be a bit stiffer ?

I have a 2017 spec R design lux 2WD and the leather seats are great. However I am thinking of changing to the SE Lux as the suspension of the R design is a bit too stiff for me. Hope this helps. Its fine on good motorways but not great on our country roads especially for the passenger.

I have a se lux nav 220 bhp d5. It is very comfy as it has a winter pack and sensus . The electric heated seats are good as my wife always leaves the seats in her settings and by pressing a button its easy to change back to mine including the mirrors. I think it can be done on the key fob too but havent bothered to look it up in the manual.
I tried the r design but preferred the softer ride of the se. The r design is still a fantastic car, it just depends on what suits you. Mine was the last of the mark one and an ex demo so it has all the toys.
I think whatever model you choose you will know it when you see it and you wont be dissapointed. I have never owned a volvo before but now i would not go back to anything else. The only brand to challenge volvo in my opinion is the jaguar f pace but try leaving one of those in a supermarket car park full of shopping trollies without it getting dinged! The thing that put me off the jag was it is too bling and too loud, whereas volvos are understated luxury. The vovlo build quality is superior to anything else out there and l like the fact that the panels are not made from plastic but aluminium. The d5 also makes a nice burbling sound when you drive it more like an american v8 than a deisel.

By the way according to the on board computor the d5 averages 6.9 litres per 100 km which is about 41 mpg, mixture of round town and motorways. If I drove carefully in eco mode maybe it would be a bit more.
