Very tidy. Quiet, isn't it. Running well?

Ooh do elaborate gents am intrigued 😉 is the black box affair the air filter?

c1800 Oct 12th, 2017 04:33

As I am intrigued, as to the picture, and what makes it quiet?

Previously I had the blue pancake filters fitted so there was the noise of the air being sucked in. Now I have refitted the original air box with internal filter and directed the air intake through a space in the front panel so that it sucks in clean cold air from outside the engine bay and also has a "ram air" effect. This is on my 144S. Will post more pic's later.

I don't like the blue pancake and the k&n for this reason

Looks beautifully George !!! (Even it should be posted inside the stepchild part of this forum: 140/164)

It's a B20b so it is relevant. There is an cut out in the front panel which looks as though something fits in.It leads to fresh air. Just need to find a better piece of extension tube

I think the injection cars have an air filter on the rad side of the bulkhead in a can. There is normally a separator wall to stop major water ingress into the filter area. The 3 small cutouts around the hole probably allow a bayonet fitting of some sort, maybe just for a rubber seal/grommet. I'll have to look a the parts book sometime.

That's the same airbox I have on my Amazon rally car except that the inlet tube was cut off flush at the end. That enables the cover to be reversed so it breathes warm dry air from around the exhaust manifold and stops icing of the carbs in cold damp weather.

I think any ram effect would be dissipated by the filter and the turbulence brought about by a fluted inlet pipe.
