Tow bar Bike rack for Volvo tow bar

Hi All,

I just had delivered the Buzz Rack EAZZY 4 from Roofbox but it is absolute rubbish!

Anyone have a recommendation for a tow bar mounted bike rack that will stay in place? I have tightened the tow bar as much as I physically can and it will stay in place when the vehicle is stationary, but as soon as you go over a bump it becomes loose and then in the corners...It has damaged the paint on the back of my XC40 as a result.

Any suggestions welcome.

Anything from Thule will not disappoint you.

The Volvo bike carriers are actually rebranded Thule carriers.
I have one. Tough as anything and really well made.

I also have a Thule. Very well made and super secure on the towball. Easy to get into the tailgate by folding the rack down.

+1 on the thule.
ive had the Euroclassic 3+1 carrier - like this for past 11 years. its heavy, but very secure and done thousands of miles across the UK and france during this time. i'll be using it on my V90 with fixed towbar when it arrives next week

ps - when i bought mine, it was cheaper to buy the Volvo branded one from a volvo dealership than it was to buy a Thule branded one. 11 years back the 3 carrier was c.£400, then the extra addon carrier was around £100. but lasted very well and no signs of wear.

Is your towball grease and paint free and dry. New volvo towballs have a coating on them that should be removed before using them as it will get on the hitch pads and may cause slipping.

sorry to go off on a slight tangent, but i've noticed that on the genuine volvo towbar/towball necks, there are 2 protruding "knobs"(one on each side). I've read that they are designed for a cycle carrier - anyone know which make/model fits these as i've not seen any online.

I've not got a Volvo towbar, but we use a Thule towbar bike carrier on our Freelander and it's great. Also nice an compact for storage.

+1 Thule Euroclassic which I have used for for over 5 years and in the last 2 years with two "heavy" eMTB's that weigh approx 50lbs each.
In all my trips I have never had a single problem of any type.
Purchased from roofbox as per below link

There are some other ones currently on eBay - search Volvo Cycle Tow bar carrier.

You get what you pay for with these bits of kit - and when carrying over £8k of bike mounted on a single round tow bar ball I want something that will ALWAYS hold it secure.
