Vacuum pump whining long after I've switched off
Hi All,
A first for me: Just moved my car a couple of feet so I could put my bins out & there was quite a whine coming from the nearside front a long time after I'd switched the engine off - maybe a couple of mins. At first I thought it was the headlight leveling motor (which I probably broke when cleaning the lens) but when I popped the bonnet there was no doubt what was making the noise. The brake vacuum pump was whining, vibrating & a little warm. I felt it, tapped it a bit, swore at it & turned back to get my tools from the house when it stopped. I've left it for now. Is this normal behaviour ?? Cheers. Paddy |
