Throttle cable
Hi, my throttle cable is hanging on by what looks like one thread of metal and i need a new one sharpish. Had a look around the internet and with volvo and it seems that it is now a deleted part. Has anyone any recommendations to get this resolved?

You might have to have one made. A quick search found this company: http://www.cable-tec.co.uk/ that should be able to make one.
If you contact them it may also be worth asking them if they can do a 940 handbrake cable as that is also no longer available. |
Available from skandix but i think postage isn't the cheapest, never ordered from them myself but they have most parts, not sure on delivery times. They say it is genuine Volvo, i believe they have a stock of old genuine parts and once they go that is it.

thats a left hand drive only one, which seems quite common over the internet, the right hand drive is long gone.

Ordered many parts from Skandix, both for delivery to the UK and now, to Germany. Very fast delivery. They also stock parts for RHD cars.
Another one to try would be GCP in Sweden. Also very good. http://www.gcp.se/en/ Basically, I buy all my parts from these two companies. A throttle cable should be obtainable for any of our LHD/RHD cars. |
I snapped mine outside Aviemore on a trip to Inverness, and I repaired it with a cable from the local bike shop. I used one end of a universal gear cable that matched the end on the throttle body. The other end should have been crimped, but as it was a bodge I just tied a knot in the cable and clamped it with a nut and bolt.

3547280 is the part number and my volvo dealer and the site you've listed both do not stock it and have marked it deleted. Ive google high and low.

Btw, here's a link to all catalogues that has been uploaded by GCP. All part numbers one can ever need.... http://www.gcp.se/en/catalogues/ |
Bike shop
Like Joe of Loath says, get a universal cable from your local bike shop and just use the metal wire. I fixed my cruise control that way and it has worked for more than 15 years now.
