D5 Vacuum pressure?

Can anyone tell me what sort of vacuum pressure i should be getting out of my D5 auto 2004. I've connected a pressure gauge directly out of the pump and am getting a reading of 20Ins hg at idle. Is this low?
I'm having problems with turbo boost and hesitation to accelerate up steep hills with my caravan on. If this is normal is there anything else i can/should check on the vacuum side. The mounts are not leaking as i still get 20 Ins hg after the vacuum control valve for the engine mounts and this is working as it cuts off vacuum to the mounts above 1200 rpm (ish).
I first need to make sure the vacuum pressure is what it should be or is it a bit on the low side. The car drives fine solo with no fault codes but performance has definitely dipped off when towing.

you should get 25hg and above from the pump at idle.at the Tcg at the block it should be the same figure on the inlet and the outlet at idle when you press the throttle at the out let that figure goes down from 25 hg as the vanes close.

it could be the turbo intake hose going soft doe's it go into limp mode with the van on .

No it doesn't go into limp mode,it did briefly before last christmas but that seems to have cleared itself. If i hit a steep climb with the caravan on and floor the accelerator it almost grinds to a halt before the turbo kicks in and it gears down and then it will accelerate but not with the usual power.

Not that i'm aware of. I could take it off and inspect it. It did feel soft when i was poking about on wednesday.
My main concern is wether 20 Ins HG is acceptable or a possible cause also. If the vaccum isn't sufficient at source then anything after that is going to suffer. If 20 hg is fine then i'll start replacing bits or get it hooked upto vida which should be able to tell me boost pressure???

Have you had a look at the u tube vid and is it the same vac if it is then look eleswhere

The vid looks like the vac hits 25,mines only at 20. Considering my problem is only in the early stages of development that 5 hg could be critical.

you would have the symptoms all the time and not just under extreme load. it sounds like there is not enough air getting to the turbo
