1988 Volvo 740 GLE 2.3 Auto Estate £1095

Located in Haydock.

MOT October 2020

> 229K miles. The odometer stopped working some years ago, however the previous owner (of 10 years) kept this car garaged and apparently didn't use it very much.

The engine sounds great. I'm not aware of it ever being changed, but it sounds surprisingly smooth.

I replaced the headlining myself, and for the most part it came out good. However I messed up the sunroof opening by cutting too much fabric away (massively frustrating), hence there is fabric tape to bridge the gap. I also wasn't able to replace the nasty fabric on the sunroof, because the sunroof doesn't work. I'm under the impression that it needs to be able to move in order to get the fabric off. I couldn't find an exact replacement for the sunroof motor.

It has just had an oil change + filter, air filter & front sidelights. The spark plugs were changed back in October.

The other good points more or less speak for themselves in the pictures.

All tyres have good tread.
It looks fairly solid underneath, but could do with new anti-roll bar bushes.

Bad points:
Sunroof motor doesn't work
Aerial is broken
Rear wiper mech is sticky
Headlight wipers don't work
Small dents in bonnet plus stone chips at the front edge, one small dent in boot, scratches on bonnet and a few on the doors/sides (more obvious when up close), & the paint on the "bases" of the wing mirrors looks to have cracked off - not sure if these are corroded aluminium?
Tow hook cover is the wrong colour.
Rear lights are a bit faded
Air box cover has a small cracked corner, I'm still searching for a replacement.
Light lacquer damage at top of N/S rear passenger door.
It sometimes takes a while to start when hot.

Dam, that is nice. Good luck with the sale! It just goes to show how well these motors wear their mileage.

Very pretty car. I owned one - same colour, interior, model and year. Amazing how well they age. Good luck with the sale.
Cheers, LeeP

Thanks.
I've just taken the hit on a replacement air box for £30, so that's one less bad point for the list.

No air con

Happy to negotiate by the way, I don't mind dropping the price if it goes to a good person.
