HELP! Info Required

Hi All, I have a C70 T5 SE Lux. It may have a problem with a part that has been described as the "Body Control Module". I don't think this is the Volvo description. Can anyone enlighten me please. Thanks.

My Car

I think you are probably correct with this diagram, although in Volvo speak I thought BCM was Brake Control Module? My car is a 2006 model. First of all it was the operation of the all 4 windows button. Then the SRS Airbag warning light, then a number of dashboard messages, Anti Skid service required, On call service required, Brake Failure Stop Safely & Reduced Engine Performance, to which the car entered limp mode. Although to be fair it's been fine since last Friday. Don't know if this was a glitch or something more sinister.

yes, agreed - thats what I also thought was called but wasnt 100% sure I remembered correctly. Its responsible for all brake-related features, including traction control etc so Anti Skid message would be part of this module. Airbags etc are the SRS module and window module is another one again (dont remember now wchich one) so all in all you are looking at atleast 3 different modules reporting a fault...
....what looks a very much like a CEM issue, and this could be a easiest fix. Have a look at CEM panel, under glovebox - it often loose connectors or corode it resulting in various faults at the same time. Disconnect battery, take CEM out, clean&inspect for signs of damage/water intrusion, clean the connectors and put it back. Fingers crossed it may help!

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go as I've just been out & guess what!! Two messages, Anti Skid & Reduced engine performance, still it's been a week. Again many thanks.

does your car have a sunroof?

FredGraham Aug 16th, 2018 17:03

My Car

Not a sunroof. It's a hard top convertible that has just had work done on the roof.

When you have multiple fails I'm inclined to think it's the battery (or earths). They are all checked at first starting and a low voltage will give these messages. Then as all recovers you get no return of the errors.

and now you are getting random failures reported on the electrical system

time to play "upside down in teh passenger footwell" after taking the battery off and get the CEM out , clean and dry the contacts and keep a Very keen eye on when it rains and when your spurious errors appear ,,
