ETA throttle body
Hi
Tried to help my friend out with his 2007 UK S40 with a 1.8 petrol 4 cylinder engine We got the TPS code from my OBD scanner I managed to find a wiring diagram for his car I suggested he bought a new ETA as its called in the diagram, and then keep it in the boot just in case his failed However, I have since found out that on the older cars you couldn't simply replace them (ETM) I don't have access to a proper workshop manual either Is it possible on this vehicle to buy a new throttle body and fit it ourselves? I also saw a post about leaving the ignition on position 2 for a few minutes I cant find any posts about his particular version of S40 He really loves the car but knows what the main dealers are like :( Thanks |
Hi
cant help you with that particular model, as TB is different than on mine, but its adviseable to replace TB with battery disconnected, and upon connecting new one (or the same - cleaned) , let the car idle for few minutes as it adjust itself to TB after power loss. Its kinda of "resetting" old settings and setting up to new one. Did that on mine and worked well. Also - maybe its worth to try cleaning it first - often those are so dirty inside that flap doesnt move freely anymore. Have a go first and if doesnt help - try different one? |
Thanks
A local mechanic we both know did clean it out, but my friend said he still gets a warning light now and then I also had a bad experience at the volvo main dealer, although it wasn't a volvo. But I definitely didn't have any confidence in anyone there If anyone has renewed theirs please let us know! Thanks again |
As nobody seems to have replaced theirs, does anybody have access to a proper workshop manual?
Could they possibly please read and share what the correct procedure is please? Thanks |
