Oil level sensor

I've had my car serviced less than a week ago xc60 2013, a warning came up saying oil level 0.5 l, did an oil level check and it was on min\empty, called garage who serviced it and they came out and put a little of oil in, the level didn't change, due to take it in tomorrow morning to get it checked, I'm reading it could be a computer update needed? Car needs telling oil is full?

Don't thinks yours has the VEA engine (?) but my VEA model needs to be driven 30km before the e-dipstick average reading updates (reading shown is the average over the previous 30km).

Why didn't they put more oil in?
How much in total have they now put in?

If the level is too low on the dipstick, you don't need a computer update, you need more oil to be put in.

overfill issue

There is a whole discussion on these forums regarding keeping the level off the full mark, it would be worth looking that up, before they put too much in. I have the same XC60 2013 , and run it at around 75% full.

There is also a small plastic dipstick you can use to check manually
