2006 V50 wing mirror removal/replacement

Hi
New to Volvos and recently bought a 2006 V50 2.0D. After a couple of days, I've noticed the driver's side wing mirror is seriously loose. It looks OK but is actually very wobbly - eg it can't be folded in as the frame doesn't have the structural strength to rotate on the hinges. I've peeled back the plastic trim on the inside just a peek and the bolt appears to be in-tact, so I think it's the plastic bits in the mirror body that are snapped (looks like someone's tried a DIY repair job with silicone sealant)

My questions are:
  1. Does one really have to remove the internal door trim to get full access to the mirror bolt? This video suggests yes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlOmEGfRcqQ but I'm hoping not
  2. Do the coloured panels on the wing mirror pop off? Can I buy a second hand wing mirror from say a blue V50 and replace the coloured trim parts with my existing ones?
  3. What's the going rate for a (heated/electrically adjustable) wing mirror?

Any help appreciated
thanks

Hi
I only know correct answer for 2nd one - YES, those are just pop-in and easily replaceable.
Also word of warning - make sure you compare the mirror types - 2005-2008 cars had different mirrors than FL model 2008.

Many thanks for the reply. The fact that the coloured panels are interchangeable will be a cost-saver I'm sure. I'll watch out for the model year.

To answer 1, yes, the door card requires removal to access the bolts.

Many thanks for all the replies. Have now successfully swapped out the mirror. Removing the door panel was a pain as the clips threatened to snap at every opportunity but seems to have gone OK.

Turns out there are two competing door mirrors for a 2006 model; both fit the car fine but have different electrics. Best way to tell on inspection was in reference to the size of the indicators.

Are both of those same spec and differs with shape only? Or one of them were electrically foldable with puddle lights?

They appeared fairly similar. The one that didn't fit did not appear to have puddle lights and no external indication it was electrically foldable (although of course with the electrics not matching, it was difficult to tell!) The blue terminal block at the end of the wires was the same, but I noted by comparison that the wires went to different pins on the terminal block when holding the terminal blocks from the two mirrors in the same orientation to compare.
