Headlights
Does anyone have a couple of headlight units they want to sell? Condition not important as I have new reflectors to be fitted, but garage suggested it would be sensible to work on some units off the car and just do a straight swap, less fraught with potential hazards. I've not seen any secondhand units on Ebay, just new ones at eye-watering prices!

Sounds a good plan, and I'd suggest eBay for someone breaking a 240, I dare say lights are probably very sought after from what you're saying, but just found one, so worth sending them a request to see if they have light units. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265367620...3ABFBM4rHY08Fh Good luck, Cheers, Steve |
Hi Angie,
Co-incidentally the below just popped up on here, so might be a good source for a pair of headlights?? https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...47#post2876247 Cheers Steve |

Soak the three nuts securing each headlamp in for example Plus Gas several/many times before attempting to undo. The forum has posts of anguish where members have tried to undo those nuts while they are seized. .... the nuts seize and trying to undo while seized causes breakage inside the plastic housing of the headlight. OUCH. Good and repeated applications of Plus Gas avoids much and big grief. Regards to you Angie. Stephen PS how much are those new headlights? If that garage is not used to changing the reflectors then new headlights could save a lot time charges by the garage. And you could sell the old headlights to someone willing to change the reflectors themselves. . . |

Well cheap, from a chap I’ve dealt with more than once!🧐 Both sides too. |
Hello Stephen, apologies for not replying to your helpful post.
In the event the lights were easily removed, I followed advice and soaked the bolts in WD40 a few times which might have helped, I don't think it took them long to do the job. As fate would have it the work was done on the Friday before BST started so I haven't yet been out in full darkness! Even at dusk though I can notice a huge improvement so night driving when needed should be much pleasanter. Thank you, hope all's well with you. |
