V70 D5 goes limp
The engine systems service light is on permanently
Volvo dealer investigated and they replaced a turbo control valve but the light is still on. Brilliant diagnostic they say further investigation is required. Most of the time the car drives as normal being the D5 engine, but now and again it looses power (almost like a loss of turbo) but will carry on driving and will often clear itself and carry on. The not so brilliant main dealer does not think it is a turbo fault. DUH!!!! But by using a crystal ball {I suspect VIDA is not showing any fault codes} they say it is probably a connection or other problem but are unable to say what is wrong IDEAS THOUGHTS WILD GUESSES??? |
If the light is on , vida/icarsoft/Delphi ds150, will show a code
Find out what code I is showing, it maybe the VNT TURBO needs cleaning, Dave |

So did they use vida on the car?
why did they change the turbo control valve did they test it,or did they just have a go, see if it will fix it, and charge you anyway, you could find a local forum user to read the car |

as it was a Volvo dealer I would have expected them to run VIDA diagnostics before doing anything BUT!!!!! |

and they said it would get back to Sunny Scotland without any problems as it only did this 'rarely' Which was probably why the dealer could not locate the problem As I am sure the car ran perfectly when the dealer was looking at it....typical phantom intermittent fault never shows up when you are looking at it for the problem :-( |
Haha, that’s the one I meant - it’s somewhere down south! Had monitors in the headrests. Still got it on my watch list.
