London New Regulations

I looked up my 1989 Volvo 245 CI 2000cc on their web site as a matter of interest
Could not believe there was a green box with a tick in it. I take it that I am exempt the charge!!

That can't be right. Don't get me wrong, great if it's true. Frankly even if it coughs pure poision, it stands greener than the melting-down and re-manufacture of the 3-4 cars 'Average Joe' scrapped, whilst yours trundled on...

On that point alone, in 'Guardian reader cred', I say you win hands-down. Sadly, that won't be the logic.

Ulez and cars on lpg

My understanding is that as things stand cars that have been converted to lpg are not exempt from these zones, am i correct, not that i wish to drive in london but ulez is going to hit all cities soon, for one that's about to install lpg on my 940 i would just like to know.

Yes you are correct my car is vleaner than 90% of cars in London yet I am charged. The whole scheme is for raising tax and supporting car manufacturers who want to sell new hydrids etc. I am in the procees of complaining to my MP and the Mayos office

LPG is barely considered. And CNG, the greenest of the fosssil-fuels, doesn't get a mention. Excuse my cynicism, but agreed. It's about tax and lobbying for the sale of new cars.

Are the Ulez rules still the same?
I assume there's no relaxation to allow lpg conversions to be exempt?

Which allows taxation, which makes us buy new cars, which sets up a bureaucracy to run it, which 'sounds' green?

The clue might be in the words "Follow the money."

Going forward 15 years, when 50% of drivers in London are in EVs, you then have to invent another tax to make up the declining revenue from clean air - maybe quadruple the congestion fee and expand that to Luton and Grays...

Pay per mile for all vehicles will probably be in by then.
