XC60 Rear Fog Lights

Hi I am new to Volvo and also this forum so forgive me if I am asking a dumb question.

I have a 2010 XC60 2.5L D5 AWD and I noticed that the nearside / passenger side rear fog light isnt worlking, I have checked the bulb and this is OK so I am wondering if the cars brain doesnt turn the left hand light on because it is a right hand drive veicle, or have I just got a wiring fault?

Can anyone help.

Thanks Ian W

Most cars only have one fog light, usually on the offside (Drivers Side) XC60 is the same.

The 2010 model only has one light enabled, the latest version (certianly since MY14.5) have both enabled.

It is also the case now that when you switch on rear dogs with the lights in auto mode the headlights will come on automatically - clearly not required for cars that use dipped headlights as the DRL :)

I wouldn't worry too much about rear fogs on an XC60. The rear lights are as strong as you will ever need, fogs are pretty unnecessary on the car. The car lights up like a display at Blackpool.

The car has been setup to light up only one side.
I'd prefer to see a central foglight if the manufacturer intends to only have one lit.
You can easily fix the none working side yourself with enough wire to run as the switch cable from the offside bulb to the cars nearside, mount a relay near the fusebox. Take a switched live feed from fusebox to relay and feed from relay to n/s rear fog. Fourth final cable to earth the relay.

Not sure about a central foglight. I would just be happy if all the drivers who use them remember to turn them OFF when they are no longer required.

Given the position of the switch for rear fogs in RHD 60s Volvo may as well not bother fitting them.

Hi To all that responded.

That has cleeared thing up I thought it may be down to software, seems silly fitting the bulb and the wiring but then not to enable it but hay who am I to question the logic.

I may just leave it as designed until I get bored and have nothing better to do.

Thanks again for a fast responce.

Wonder if the dealer could switch on with a download?

It'd be good if there was a means of automatically turning off rear fogs when not needed for those tw@s that leave them on....for days sometimes....
