MAF temperature 14 degrees when cold?

If anyone has access to Vida, could they do a small test and tell me what temperature their MAF reads with the engine off and cold?

If I turn my ignition on and monitor the temperatures, my MAF intake air temp always starts around 14 degrees celcius and begins to climb slowly.

At the time of these readings the engine is off, the dash was reporting an outside temp of 2 degrees and with the frost melting and the sun shining on the car, the TMAP temperature seems to be accurate...

In 'cold no engine - ' it's cold, I haven't started the car. The second picture 'cold engine started' is from the other evening just after I'd started the car, the weather was a bit warmer then.

Thanks in advance.

Have your ever found response to your question?
I noticed similar values on cold today:

maffo

Just wondering, as the maf is a hot wire type sensor, if the engine isnt started, maybe the hotwire is making the temp show higher than ambient?, if you start the engine what happens to the temp shown, does it drop ? i guess the ecu would know if the engine is running or not, maybe its a 'raw' value that isnt used until the engine is running?, i think there is also a temp sensor inside the map (boost) pressure sensor, which is charge air temp before it gets to the head.

50,000 miles later, I did not, but I suspect Thassos is correct and the MAF is heating itself up.

Hey,
You are right. Temperature drops when idle.
