2011 S60 1.6D R-Design Hesitant Acceleration

Evening all,

New issue with the S60,

Cars become very hesitant when accelerating after shifting up a gear. At worst it feels like the rev limiter is on, zero revs increase and a very choked feeling. At best it takes a second or so to kick in.

History wise; all 4 injectors have been replaced within the last 12 months. Annual service is due. Main thoughts are maybe a blocked fuel filter, struggling under load? or EGR/MAF being blocked.

Any pointers before i start dismantling the motor?

Thanks

Mine did this...turned out to be the air filter! Check the simplest then work upwards.

Different engine I know but in my 14 plate S60 2.0, I cleaned the MAP sensor as it was literally full of black gunk... I'm assuming all diesel's have one?
Anyway cleaned it with contact cleaner and it feels much more responsive and eager... worth a try!

I had a look inside he airbox earlier today, its full of crap! im guessing it gets sucked onto the filter each time i apply load and falls back down when i release. Will give it a good clean out.

Where is the MAP sensor? I'll have a look a that also.

Change the fuel filter, cheap as chips and you will be shocked how dirty it is, bear in mind they are white or off white when they start out.
I now do mine every 10k as I had the same symptoms and then a fault registered which was easy cleared but left me in limp mode.

The map sensor is under the engine cover and slightly to the right as you look at it... Held in with one torx screw
