Keyless entry not working one side

Good morning!

I have a Volvo S60 MY13 with keyless entry (PCC). The keyless handles on the passenger side of the car don't work (with the passive button to lock/unlock), however the drivers side and boot operate fine.

Any ideas? I did think it might be the antenna, but I assume each handle has one. Only thing I can think of is wiring, guessing this would be a pain to diagnose without a dealer visit :)

Do you need to enable the feature in the 'My Car' settings (I can't remember!) ? It works on every door and the boot on my V60

There's a few threads on this - it's just a pretty fragile and unreliable system, I'm afraid. I believe it's to do with water ingress and corrosion of wiring and they system was modified on newer models.

I had the rear passenger door handle changed under warranty; passenger side and boot are fine, but now the rear driver's door works about 75% of the time and the driver's door itself works once in a blue moon!

Not something I shall bother with in future unless it happens to be on the next car - it's not really any effort to press a button. After all I have to do that with the S40, and with the 480 even put the key in the door and turn it!!

Thanks for the replies. To confirm in the menu it is set to be on all doors (no single side option).

As you mention @dcw I did suspect it is probably corrosion, I'm guessing the dealer service bulletin (in linked thread) doesn't mean there's a FOC fix?

It just seems strange it's only on the one side, which got me thinking is it some kind of switch or something that can be checked on the car? I did think a fuse initially, but there's just a single one for the whole keyless system. Wiring diagram is on page 100, however there seems no link between the two?

Hey guys

I have double checked the fuses (there's two) and all is ok.

As both don't work on the same side it got me thinking it might be the sensor on that side of the car. So I took the door panel off to see if anything looked amiss. Sadly it doesn't :(

Here's a pic:

Any ideas?

It seems to be that the sensor int he handle itself gets damaged by water therfore a handle replacement os the only fix

Thanks for the reply. That sounds a fairly major fix to something that's a bit of a gimmick!

If I replace the antenna (pictured), I'm assuming it'd need re-programming by the dealer?

That in pic is door module and is actaully nothing to do with keyless entry,

The reciever for the fobs is in the rear door handles,

You can remove the handles and clean the connections up and sometimes they start working again

@Rooster thanks for the help.

How would I go about removing the handles? Does it require me to take off the black trim pictured inside of the door card, or is the handle removed from the outside? There seems to be little on the net about how to remove them.
