V70 2009 D5 Auto, Slow speed steering shake

Hi All,
Just noticed a gentle "shake" of the steering wheel at low speeds. The guys a kwik fit had the front wheels off and checked for balance and tracking. No issues found. The tyres are 2 years old 4 seasons.
I have also checked tyre pressures on all 4 tyres.
Tested gentle braking to see if it was warped disks but at speed its smooth.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

I had a similar thing caused by unevenly worn front tyres, you could try rotating front to back to see if it goes away.

Looks like your tyre(s) are warped. Jack one side up with a slight gap between the ground and the tyre. Rotate the wheel and see if the gap changes due to tyre damage. While you are at it look at the inside rim off the wheel for warpage.

I would....

- Checl the wheels are true (jack up and spin them)

- Swap front to back to try

- Carefull check wheel bearings

Can also be caused by a sticking brake

Solution found

When I took a front tyre off to swap with the rear there was a diagonal cut in the tread down to the the banding layer below. The tyre had bulged slightly at that point, holding the rubber open. Different and scary!

New tyre fitted and slow shimmy gone.
Cheers

Thank you for posting the update. That could have been a scary high speed blow-out waiting to happen!
