Timing belt

Hi all, currently on my third Volvo, this one is a high mileage '64 plate V70 181bhp and I am trying to find out when the timing belt needs changing?

I spoke to the original dealer with who all the serving was done previously and they first said it didn't have a timing belt(?!) then said it did and needed doing at 108,000miles, but then said 144,000miles...does anyone know which is definitely correct? I have searched the internet and everything says generally 108000 but I can't find anything for this specific engine.

If it is definitely 108000 then they should have done it as they did that service, but on the same call they said they haven't done it (which could be why they suddenly changed from saying it needed doing at 108000 to 144000 as the latter is now out of their remit).

Any advice greatly appreciated. The car is a bit of a shed so I'm sure I'll be back!

Really?!?!

My s80 2006 2.4 D5 had its first timing belt changed at 88000 miles. Iv had it done recently at 164000 miles. Im sure when I checked this a while ago, I was told it needs changing between 85000miles to 87500 miles.

Or maybe that is just a guidline.

that is probably the 4 cylinder 2 litre new volvo diesel engine which is 144000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first .. The 5 cylinder is 108000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first

No it's not a guideline , It Is 108000 miles or 10 years which ever comes first on the 5 cylinder from 2006 , what is more important is the aux belt change every 54000 miles after 2007

Thank you all so much for your replies.

It is a D4 181bhp V70 on a '64 plate. I beileve the engine code is D4204T5, but I can't see it anywhere on the engine itself. The only other D4 engine code in the Volvo manual that came with the car is D5204T3 - which I believe is the 163bhp version.

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but does more cylinders = greater power? And if so have I got my engine codes the wrong way around as I was informed the D4204T5 is the 181bhp (my car is definitely the 181bhp)?
