Error code - what action would be needed?

Hi everyone, first time poster so feel free to move to another section if needed.

We have a V50, has abiut 170k on the clock so plenty of life left. Just past MOT too this week.

Wife drove to work this morning and car temporarily went into limp mode. Engine System service error flashes on dash and then went off. Pulled over for a while then started again and all seemed fine. Carried into work and got AA out to read the codes. He seemed to think everything was ok. We have the report and it read

Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine control - 52U / Diesel CR/EDC SID ‪8030234‬ - Boost pressure control. Error Message : Pressure too high.Patrol carried out the following special function/s:Special functionsAdjustments / settingsFunction testsClear codes. Road test. . Ok Engine Oil Level Ok. Coolant Level Ok

What can I take from that? Is there anything I should be doing to make sure it doesn't happen again?

Any help gratefully received.

Jim

as "nice" as the aa's code reader maybe,
1st port of call with Any modern volvo is "a dealer / indi with VIDA + DiCE" or yourself with a suitable laptop + vida + Dice
reason is
Yes the car has odbII , and SOME code readers can read Some codes
they can NOT read them all
Vida + DiCE Does read them ALL
it ALSO shows you What it wrong, What steps you need to fix it AND how to do the steps
(its a Code reader + flowcharter WITH full workshop manuals included)

Fyi
If you can give a Bit more info about Which V50 it is peeps will be able to help a lot more

IE
V50, Year of , Engine size and Fuel type
"v50 , 2006 , 2.0 Petrol " , amend as applicable

GUESSES
its a diesel ,
its been used for a While for short trips mostly
it is in need of a Proper service

Turbo pressure too high/boost pressure control = relates to a turbo issue, possibly perished hoses or on the boost side , possible boost controller issue (maybe air leak related as above)

VIDA+DiCE will pinpoint it

Thank you for your help so far.

Details are:

V50, 2008, 2.0 litre Diesel

It's been serviced yearly, it's used for a mixture of journeys, typically though its short bursts which I know aren't great.

What would a typical cost of getting a test done on one of the machines mentioned?

Had same issue with my V50 2008 2.0D before I sold it

Turbo Control valve replaced at Independent Volvo Specialist in Bradford - £200 for part replacement & diagnostic.

Light came back on a week later - was told EGR probably needed cleaning

I was only doing short journeys and 7k per year mileage
