Lazy ask Amazon / P1800 / PV offsets and sizes?
 

G'day Folks,

I've got a bit of a lazy ask - can someone please point me in the right direction / tell me about trendy wheel offsets and sizes?

I've seen some pictures of Amazons and PVs (in particular) with slightly beefier wide wheels fitted but ones which still having almost stock looking steel wheels and hub caps.

I've recently seen an advert (during my many dangerous middle of the night online shopping sprees) for widened 5 inch wheels. I couldn't figure out why someone would want 5 inch wheels when you can buy 5 and a 1/2 inch wheels that look the same from several Volvo spares specialists. I figured there's an offset issue...

...so I'd like to know which wheels were fitted factory fresh on the various standard and sportier models of the Amazon, P1800 and PV please.

Can anyone help?

Part Number 89991 "Solid" steel wheel 4" PV + Amazon to 1964 ET = 25mm

Part Number 657838 "Solid" steel wheel 4.5" P220 + P1800 to 1964 offset unknown (!)

Part Number 670429 Steel wheel 4"X15" Amazon 120/130 1965 to 1970 ET = 25mm

Part Number 613014 Steel wheel 4.5JX15" P220 + P1800 to 1964 ET = 10mm

Part Number 66820 Steel wheel with holes 1800S ET = 25mm

ET is 25mm for the 4" wide wheel, You need to keep close to that amount of backspacing so the wider you go the lower the ET will need to be

First check the pcd on your 544. If I remember right it has a front disc conversion. Maybe they did it with amazon hubs, maybe with different. Amazon will be 5 x 114,3mm and the newer stuff 5x108mm

trendy: Buy a new car, with bling bling and piep piep stuff, don't forget w-lan high speed
trendy: lower till you can't drive with the car anymore, minimum 120mm haha called "stance" ( and not driveability)
Trendy: Get the front axle more narrow, you need 20 to 30 pulls to make a u-turn on a 4-lane road, still trendy
Trendy: at minimum a 20" rim, no real tyre, only a rope made of rubber around the rim


I prefer on a Amazon/Pv 544 5.5x15 with hubcaps and with 165/80R15, not lowered (maximum 1").
My 142(162) is raised ;-)

Being "cool" is not all it's cracked up to be...because what's trendy and "cool" today has a good chance of looking kinda stupid, old and passe' tomorrow...not my gig!
My attitude is: Good vintage design and function always stands the test of time, and our cars satisfy all that for me...to take advantage of modern advances in tires, I recommend 6" wide wheels with 70 Series gumbies, so that you can still turn the Steering Wheel to park, AND drive over a painted line without bottoming out...my advise: If you want to be really cool, be a real trend-setter...and DON'T get a tattoo!
