Ace Cafe - Norse Day 28th November 2010
 

In spite of the very poor turnout last year, the Ace Cafe have invited us back again, this year on Sunday 28th November 2010.

It is a good opportunity for a meet over a very good breakfast, brunch or lunch or all three!

Open to all classic and modern Volvos, and another make of Swedish cars who we don't mention!

Meet is from 9.00-17.00 but the Cafe is open from 7.00-22.30.

I aim to be there again this year. Hopefully will bring the Yellow 740 taxi and the White 740 Hearse.......should get some attention

Only a couple of weeks now, and if the responses on this thread are the only Volvos going it will be a pathetic turnout.

Might pop along just out of curiosity .. The car is a bit beaten up so will look nicely out of place but hey!

I'll be down with my 245- sadly still on its automatic gearbox, as I doubt I'll get it converted in time.

No option to edit for some reason. Oh well.

Having never done one of these things how does it work? Turn up, have breakfast/lunch/dinner, go home? Or are you lot friendly and pop over to cars as they arive to say "Hey"?

Was thinking much the same of the above, Never been to a Volvo meet, interested in going.

It's a bit far for me folks, I'm in the North West.

My sister lives in London though so might arrange a visit and kill two birds.

I usually travel down in the works van to save paying the huge fuel bill!!

Will I still be one of the crew if I'm in a 1.3 Vauxhall Combo Van? :-)

It is very informal, if I am outside when you arrive I will say hello, if I am in the Cafe enjoying my breakfast, there will almost certainly be someone else outside who will greet you if you are seen looking at any of the Volvos in the car park.

I will take something that I can put on the table that identifies us as being Volvo people, and all are free to join us - if there are enough seats!

If you arrive in anything other than a Volvo or Saab, you will not be allowed in the Ace Car Park until later in the day if we haven't filled it, but there is plenty of free parking right outside for any lesser makes, so you can still mix with the cars and join us in the cafe.

Will have a wander round and eye up a few of the cars before I head in .. suppose I had better tidy up the car a bit incase anyone decides to return the favour!

I go to the ace most sundays for a bite to eat and a look at what ever car or bike club is having a do and it is always a fun and friendly place ,even better when the car park is full of volvos . see you all on the 28th mine is the black amazon .

Gonna be coming convoy with an S40, friend picked it up about 2 weeks ago after saying he would "never own a volvo" .. Showed him wrong didn't we!

So watch for the Blue V70 (with the badly repaired boot panels!) with a Silver-ish S40 in tow. Hoping to be there for breakfast, depends when mate turns up (Defender driver and "Mechanic-who-can-be-paid-in-beer" friend)

Have lost the S40 (He is working at a charity car wash) but will still be there in the V70. Look for the one whos back panels don't match the rest of the car!

Sorry, folks... the flat front 240 (Brown Bess!) has blown its inlet manifold gasket. It can barely make it to the next town :(

Come on guys, no excuses. Volvos and saabs are designed to go anywhere.
I fear if we don't put in a good turn out this year we may not be asked again.

White hearse complete with coffin, fueled up and ready to go at 8 am Sunday

Cleaned and polished, ready to go! Just got to remember the camera!

Edit - Passenger has dropped out! Bertti basset - if you see this this evening drop me a PM if you fancy getting a convoy going, im going VIA Watford tomorow morning for some fuel. (Or if anyone else is gonna be passing through Watford ditto!)

Anyone got an idea how many of us are going now..

My guess is about 15 - not too good but better than none!

As someone else said Volvos were made to go anywhere, and they all have good heaters, so lets hope a few more are planning to come, but are too shy to let us know.

Thats better than none... I'm looking forward to it.... Look out for our Black S80.....

Nice to see the Amazon's out. The estate was fantastic for an original, love the way the paint has gone with age. Black one was lovely :) Mind you, so was the blue one...
