Four C parts availability

Bit of a random one for you all.

My car had a Four C "Chassis Service" error. VIDA tells me its "SUM-0023 error: Acceloration sensor, suspension right front. Signal Missing". I had a go at unplugging the offender, cleaning contacts and checking the wire for obvious damage but this didnt fix it, so its a new sensor time! I've got a chap whos breaking a car who will let me know in the next few days if his car has the sensor still so I can buy one, all is not lost.

However, I decided to call Volvo to see what they would charge. Firstly, the part number of the sensor currently on the car (306 58 759) didnt show on their system at all. Some googling showed that there was a second part number on one website for the same part (307 82 312). When Volvo put that number in, it had been superceeded again but the part in question was "No longer available"

Is it then true to say, that Four C/4C suspension system is completely unservicable unless you buy used parts from breakers? I can find shocks no problem, but there seems to be no source for these sensors. I believe they're not V70R specific either, the XC70 used them as well.

Any help or advice much appreciated!

This unfortunately appears to be the reality of life.
My R recently went for a repair and while there I was advised I needed a new down pipe - not available until the New Year soonest. Needed a new O/S drive shaft - Pick a day in 2021..... and its not only "old" cars. I also heard a customer with a V50 needed a DPF, and for his year and model - no longer available from Volvo.

I suggest you see if there are any manufacturer marks on the sensor and work from there. If you found 4C shocks parts I suggest you get 'em. I heard they are no longer available from Volvo, but that may be wrong.

Just thought these shortages may be Covid related .... but I doubt it.

Cheers
Bob

By the sounds of the guy at Volvo parts, its just a part they no longer make. Shocks seem easy to get online or at Volvo which is good, but if we eventually run out of sensors to operate them they're a little useless! LOL

You will surely find it on online sites around the world. A US one https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...volvo-30782312 The genuine 4C shocks are made by Monroe

I have seen this site while looking for car bits, it seems genuine, but many others I've NEVER heard of, and would be VERY reluctant to risk purchasing from. My concern/worry about buying from this type of site is what if I get the wrong part/it don't work, how/would you get your money back? I admit I'm a dinosaur and over worry about things like this - I'm still coming to terms with "click and collect" in the UK :)

Fcpeuro is a very legitimate (and actual good) site in the US, we also have Ipdusa and Eeuroparts. Also Rockauto but these are dealing with large sale volumes so more succeptible to make mistakes. However, these are american based so shipping to UK will be high are surely have high import fees. I'm not aware about their return policy, but I gave them only as example. Perhaps worth asking on local areas about such sites in Europe. As for their reliability, I always like to do my own search, for example, there is this discussion about Autodoc, people seem to have a good feeling about them, but when googling "Autodoc review" and reading through several review sites and looking for the negative reviews, the imagine starts to change rather negatively. This is a good way to get informed about a place, another way is to go on local.google.com, type in the company (could be an internet or a physical company), and look at the reviews people left on this company on google maps (to the left of the screen)

The last time I asked FCP Euro about parts via their official Facebook page, they replied & told me they didn't send parts to the UK.

Whether this has changed or not, I'm not sure.
