If you do replace the dip stick and or tube BE AWARE when I bought an OEM replacement dipstick it different max/min markings and cross hatching from the the original part even though the part numbers on them were the same - the max level of the older version (2001) equates to half-way up the cross hatching (i.e. half way between max and min) on the replacement.
Make sure you compare the length from the plastic rim stop at the top of the dispstick to the max/min and cross hatch markings; if you fill the oil to the maximum on the newer version it would actually be overfilled by at least 0.5L , apparently too much oil in the sump can then cause problems with the crankcase oil seal.
