Volvo 940 2.3 LPT Turbo 1996 for sale
 

Hi - time has come to part with my 940.
She's a 1996, green, with around 107k on the clock. Electrics working, including heated seats. Original radio not working.
Full service history from a Japanese diplomat up to 97k, including cambelt change at 86k. Lots of receipts etc.
Also has the extra seats in the back, and a good load cover.
Last year, she had a new front axle.
Tyres are good, battery a year old.
As with pretty much everyone here, I'm stupidly attached to the damn thing, but after moving house last month, and with a tube station 500 yards away, she is getting less and less use.
I do not want to scrap - she's too good for that - equally there are things that are not perfect.
I've just had her in for her MOT, and the garage called to say she's passed, but there are advisories. So MOT til end of January 2019.
When I get it back tomorrow, I'll stick some pictures up.
I don't want it on Ebay, and I don't want to part her out.
Ideally, I want someone who wants one of these wonderful cars, and maybe has the skills to get many more years from her.
This forum is definitely the best place for that!
I'm in North London - and not aiming for a fortune - despite the growing difficulty in finding them! I'd like to get back what I paid - £450.

I'd say with no doubt that a car (almost any car) with 12months ticket, is worth far more than £450.

The MoT alone will have cost you a few quid, if you were to break it (ridiculous with a full year on it) you'd get around £450 as I did around 3 or 4 year ago with one that wasn't worth repairing, ie I could buy another for the cost of repairs.
I see you are in London, possibly not the best place for a car now but it's the sort of car that you could use without worry about parking it, could use it to haul large quantities of anything about, family outings etc.
For the cost of a couple of weeks hire someone could buy your car and haul stuff for a year....
Don't know what the advisories are but they are advisories not necessarily the death knell.
And finally before I preach on, it's slowly becoming a "classic" they are becoming rarer, people are cottoning onto these cars and how damn good they are. Look at anything of this era, they are going up in price. Look at the older Volvos the 144, the 240 etc and the Amazon, (and of course the 1800s and P series now stratospheric). Keep it or get what it's really worth.

all the good peeps posting on here have said it as it is, DON'T sell undersell the old girl or some animal will buy her and break her for a profit.
I've the good fortune to have two Wentworths and I'm keeping one for spares, sad I know to break one but they are becoming rarer and are legendary for their reliablity and to find another is indeed getting harder.
Last of the Redblocks and yes I too am sentimental about the blasted things they are awesome, I have a pal selling his "97" 940 with 250,000 on the clock and still going strong, he has asked me how to price it and I've told him at least a grand..................
I'm sure you have your reasons for the price but don't undersell your worth or your assets. Good Luck

With that low miles and 12 months Mot, your slightly under selling it.

Haven't picked her up from the garage yet, as work meetings got in the way - once I do, I'll post pictures.
It's interesting to see the passion these beasts bring out in us. I never in a million years imagined I'd own a 940, let alone develop such an attachement to it!!
It's getting the balance right - I absolutely, definitely do not want it to go to someone who will strip and sell. I want it to find a home with someone who can tinker and do the work that will keep it on the road for another 100k.
I've done a few myself under the guidance of this forum. It's a brilliant car for that.
I'll get the pictures up tonight or tomorrow, and then take advice from the gurus on what is a decent price that guarantees it goes to the right home.
