Wrinkly door cards
Anybody tried these ?? https://www.ronaldjan.com/panelpads

I think I would rather try and fix it then to do that as a fix. I would then be more interested in doing a whole panel in that stuff.

I had a professional trimmers try and fix wrinkled panels, but they could not get the creases out without odd looking stretches. I was back and forth half a dozen times till I called it a day. I ended up slowly sourcing unwrinkled door cards, which took 6 months before I had a decent set.
If those panel pads had been available, I would have got them, so much simpler, they look smart and less money that what I paid for the replacements. |

I actually found the holy grail, a set of unwrinkled minted doorcards in a local breaker's yard for the princely sum of £20. They were even the right colour.
I'd only had the car a month at the time and was taken aback by the chancers asking for £100 + for a set, not realising that they were pretty hard to come by. |
£100 isn’t that bad, my local scrapyard would try and ask that. They always seem to not want to sell you anything rather than sell it cheaply.

Of my three 940s the 1997 and 1998 models have pristine door cards and those on the 1994 car have wrinkled almost to destruction with bare wood showing beneath the vinyl. I think Volvo improved the glue towards the end of the model run.
I did source a replacement set of unwrinkled cards for £60 a while ago but have yet to get around to fitting them. |
The set I procured came from a 1990 940 saloon.
I think the earlier cars did ok too... FWIW it seems to be a brief period mid 90-s that suffered the wrinkling, maybe 94-96? |
