Center console interfering with shift lever

Has anyone put one of these consoles in their Amazon? I have one I got from VP Autoparts, but even with no carpet or padding in my estate wagon, the shift lever hits it when I put it on top of the plastic air passage to the rear seats . I'm thinking I could heat up the front edges of the console with a heat gun and try to squash it down some, but you would think it would fit without any extra work. Or, maybe there are some tips for installation?

I have one as well and also have the same problem. I've not attempted anything yet but so far two ideas spring to mind: 1. Drill a couple of holes straight through the bottom of the console wells and into the transmission tunnel then drive a self tapping screw in. Slightly concerned about this idea though as I'm not sure if the tunnel has wires/fuel lines etc... running inside!

The other possible is regarding the big rubber thingy at the base of the gear stick. I have new carpets in mine and the rubber thingy is sewn into the section of carpet covering the transmission tunnel. I'm thinking maybe the carpet needs to be pushed up underneath the circular rebate in the console until engages all around the lip then the carpet and attached console is glued down!
I've not attempted anything yet and still remain a little puzzled so like you I'd really like to hear from anyone that may have fitted one of these.

This is a new design and not like the originals. No cup holders on the originals. This is more like a 140 one as it has a clock moulding whereas the Amazon ones didn't. The amazon heater trunking is compatible with the gearstick boot so that shouldn't be an issue. Just a bad design. There is also no tab for fixing it down at the rear. Be prepared to cut 'n shut to fit or complain to VP and get your money back!
