Horn Relocated

Strange one. Just bought a very nice 2001 s40d. All is good however I noticed the horn wasn't working. I thought I'd live with it, but whilst fitting a new stereo I noticed a 'button' on the sterring column, just below the indicator stalk, pressed it and its a horn. It looks factory fit and is about 4cm wide.

Any ideas why this is here or have you seen this before? I'm thinking the previous owner had an aftermarket steering wheel fitted?

T4Rick has relocated his horn, but not sure if it is the operating button or the actual horn component that he has relocated, or for what reason - can you help Rick?

I remember Stevo48 having problems with his horns as they were not working. After a bit of wire tracing, he found that one of hte cables was loose behind the steering column. It is possible that the previous owner had a problem and instead of fixing it properly, he just performed a cowboy job.
