Rear plastic covers on estate roof

Can anyone tell me how to remove the angled plastic bits at the rear of the roof
on the estate. Mine are desperately in need of some paint.

TIA

Shaun

They pop out. I had to remove them to paint as they had gone white on the 745. It was some years ago now but they are in 2 parts that lock together and there is a lip on the lower edge of the larger part that catches on the bodywork. You have to carefully lever them apart with a small screwdriver. I have some in my garage and shall look revert tomorrow if nobody has come up with more.

Right ... 3 pics (maybe) of the plastic trim fitting on the roof at each side of the tailgate of a 745.

Remove the centre section with a small jeweler's screw driver (or the like) by prizing it free at the sides of the top where it is held in by small nubs on on each side of the plastic that contact with/behind the sides of large 'frame' part screwed to the roof panel. The centre section is held in at the bottom by a lip so you have to release the top before you can take it completely out

Removal of the main section attached to the body is then simple. Remove the screw and draw upwards as there is a small nub at the bottom that catches on to the metal of the roof panel as well as a piece of foam rubber to hold it steady. The may well be rotted to replace with similar of blue tac.

If you are looking to replace note that they are handed.

Thanks Bob, gives me an idea for a little refurb work on mine. Never worked out if they're meant to be silver or body colour on mine.

Now i know how easily they come out, they can join the wiper arms, headlight wiper arms and the wheels in being a darker silver-grey :

At least they'll look like they belong to the rest of the subtle mods on the wheels, wiper arms etc.

But what were they for? Maybe when they come off it will become self evident...

And Laird Scooby are these the front wipers you are showing us painted??

Yes Shaun ^^^^^ think you might have missed what i said about wiper arms and wheels, the headlight wiper arms were originally that colour.

Still no idea what they're for, i think they're historical fitment more than anything.

You will find it is self-evident ..... underneath there is a large weld joining the roof panel to the D pillar.
