2003 S80 fuse 26 help please

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but Im having and issue with fuse 26 (fan, climate control). The fuse blows immediately even with ignition off.
I removed and unplugged the climate control unit and the fuse still blew. So I found and diconected the fan and motor from what I think is called the resistor popped in a new fuse and it did not blow. Does this mean that all I need to do is get a new fan and motor or could it be an issue with a relay? If so where is the relay?
Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

Hello
I guess you narrowed the problem. The relay are in the front in the engine compartment above the air box. there is a legend inside.
Try to see if it holds and plug everything again, if it blows the fuse might be something that short inside the motor. see also if it turns free.
Check for any damage cables.

Likely to be the blower motor. Try connecting the reistor block withou motor connected, although the resistor is in series with the motor, the motor is the mechanical part which is more likely to fail

The fuse can blow if there's something physically jamming or preventing the fan from turning like a piece of twig (or one of those driver points that fall out of your hex-holder when the magnets disappeared!!!!!)

Thanks for your replies.
I have switched out the fan and motor for a new one now the fan is working but it’s on constantly. I have pulled all relays in engine bay one at a time but still running with engine off. Is there a hidden relay I can’t see? Or could the resistor be at fault?

strange, normally if the resistor packs fail they fail open so you cant use the fan at all. I'd go with the suggestion above - duff fan motor

Yeah the motor had failed but now I now why it failed, it was stuck on. Trying to locate relay and change that before I change the resistor. Any idea on location. Tried the ones in the boot and engine bay. I found some behind steering column I just can’t see an easy way to get to them.
