Engine Service system required

Since having our 2009 C30 D5 R-Design SE Sport serviced I have the dreaded Engine Service system required notification. The garage keep resetting it, but it keeps reappearing. I purchased an OBD wifi tool and can clear the notification, but it keeps coming back. The car runs fine and never enters 'limp' mode.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the issue might be?
Previously the car used to go into 'limp' mode after driving 25 miles or so, after resetting the notification, two of the engine sensors were changed and the car has been fine up until now, but the notification just sits there, the car runs great 😀

Check the oil level first. It needs to be no more than 2/3rds of the MAX level (2 of the XX's showing clear) on the dipstick. If it's over, drain some out and clear the codes again (or wait a week or so of regular daily use and the message will go away of its own accord if it's going to).

If that's not the issue, get the codes read with Volvo's VIDA software, which talks to the parts of the ECM that normal OBD-II can't reach.

Best of luck

Have a read through my recent thread on the same topic.

Short version, I replaced the DPF/CAT unit, had the diesel additive tank refilled, got the counters on each reset and finally replaced all four glow plugs. Sorted now.

^^^^^ Luckily you don't have to worry about most of the above.

Unlike the 2.0D engine, the DPF on a D5 does not have a scheduled replacement after 75k miles or have an additive tank which requires refilling. Glow plugs might be an issue, but check the oil level as a first stop.
