Buyers Beware

hi all , just a heads up .
i purchased a xc70 from Birchwood cars Doncaster FVSH 1 owner towing equipment
Buyers please beware as i could have been stung big time. 2 days after purchase all engine management lights came on thought strange as its supposedly just been serviced and had a transmission service. i took to Voltech Hull for a diagnostic and gearbox oil change as i thought gears changed harshly like someone kicking you in the back.
i later received a phone call from Voltech who supplied me with the following information
AWD System not working
Turbo over boosting
ATF hasn't been changed
gear angle leaking oil
n/s/f lower bushes perished
detachable towbar doesn't fit
the bill i received for gearbox flush and diagnostics was £210
i contacted Antony Goforth of Birchwood cars who informed me that he's technicians had been through the car and there where no problems at all and Voltech was lying lol so when i asked about the transmission service he said it had been done so when i asked why wasn't the ATF changed he had no answer.
He promptly told me to get off he's property and refunded my cash price i paid for the vehicle. so i was out of pocket £210 i then checked auto trader and its back on there the next day more money and repairs won't have been done
please if you do decide to buy make sure these issues have been rectified please see link for vehicle

Advert seems to have been taken down?
Question, why didn't you go back to the vendor when you noticed problems?

Plus damaged rear cargo cover, surely that's not how you put the dog guard, I wedge mine between the seats and the cargo cover retainer, fits perfect!

had already booked in for gearbox oil change as advised on here
vendor was on holiday, car went into limp mode so thought kill 2 birds 1 stone and get diagnostic at same time which brought up all sorts of codes 8 in total so promptly returned to vendor for a refund.
vendor also said everything had been done so had no reason to doubt him until all dash light up like christmas tree

You may have had a lucky escape, unless my eyes are going it's had a crap patch to the paint driver side rear passenger door.
It's looks like a tarted up one to me and it was very strong money.
My high miles 2006 xc 70 was £2.5k a year and a half ago and it's higher spec...

yeah i agree about lucky escape, just don't want anyone else getting stung hence reason for putting on here. or at least potential buyers will have a bit more insight as to what needs doing to make it a decent car.

That doesn't mean there's multiple faults.

More importantly, after those initial codes were cleared, the car test driven and another full code read was done, how many codes remained?
