I'm sure that it will sell to the right person. That has to be someone who wants what is essentially a three year old 245 to cherish for the next 30 years. Not someone who wants a 'banger' or 'workhorse' of a car. There can't be many like this one around, and as always, any car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

If I was considering its purchase, my concern would be why it needed a new clutch and gearbox at 28K. Mine, same year, spec., even colour, ran to 133K before I sold it in 1998, and was, as far as I know, still on the original 'box, although it had had at least one clutch.

Trust you find the 'right' person to buy this car, although, as I'm sure you realise, you may have to wait a little before that person comes along. The important thing is that it continues to be cherished, as it obviously has been thus far, so it is worth waiting for the right person to buy the car.

Kind regards, John.

It will not be easy to find a buyer for such a price, because for 6k you can buy good Volvo Amazon www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-Amazon-1970-Green-/201167127433

I am looking to spend around 600GBP for 24x car, sure, I understand I will never be able to get such a good example for that price but I have seen good examples up to £600, so just hoping to get one for myself too. I have old Mercedes W123 in my country (Latvia), but here in UK w123 and w126 are double of volvo price, so I am looking for Volvo 24x or some Jaguar xj6/xj40-ish car.

Carburettor overhaul? This is a 2300 cc GLT fuel injection with a B23E engine isnt it ? Also very surprised it needed a new clutch and gearbox ,even this old
The clutch and gearbox are likely to be below standard quality now as they cant have been genuine volvo replacements ..? Nice car as a basis of long term ownership at the right Price though assuming it has the correct engine !

I used the info given to me by my customer it might need tweeking due to a typo so yes , in response i would say no carbs , i can confirm about clutch and gearbox once i have raised the questions with the owner .
i cannot be fairer than that so i will update as soon as i have info i may well have the car over with me at my workshop very soon so i can first hand respond with 100% clarity.

There's always a market for good, original cars with low ownership, mileage and full history - and some people will pay a huge premium over a good car for a minter. There are some good signs about this one - original radio and Michelins are a encouraging - but these buyers will want it absolutely mint. The corrosion on the alloys and the bubbling on the body will be barriers to a quick sale.
