V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
OK so maybe I just have to put up with it but I can only get a best fuel ave consumption out of my new Volvo of 27.2 MPG after cruising at 80 MPH on a motorway. When mixed with town and motorway driving I get 25-26 MPG.
Is this normal for a 2001 V70 170 BHP? Thanks Robert |
RE: V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
Try cruising at the legal limit or even 60 mph. You will see quite an improvement. It is not necessary to drive 10mph over the limit and it is detrimental to mileage. Besides, isn't the fine big enough?
All the best, Peter. |
RE: V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
but 70mph seems just soooo sloooow compared to 80mph

RE: V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
I have a 140 V70. On a recent run (about150 miles) mainly motorway, fast, yes too fast, CC on, the computer read 34.5 miles per gallon

RE: V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
I have an 850 2.5 20v and on a recent run managed to get 36 mpg cruising at a steady 60mph and avoiding harsh acceleration - I nearly fell asleep with boredom though!

RE: V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
For information, I get around 28-30mpg on a run. Cruising at around 85-95mph. Also with fairly hearty acceleration. What's all this 60mph stuff about?
I use optimax, which probably makes a little difference. It does tend to drop to about 22-25 around town tho. It's an 850 2.5 20V estate. |
RE: V70 2.4 170 Fuel Consumption
On my 170 2.4 I run down to good ol' Cornwall a run of 350 miles took me 4hrs and returned 38,5 mpg. Didnt take much note from the on board computer thingy just pen bit of paper and the petrol pump reading. The computer was quite a bit out reading only 29.5mpg.I did have c.c and a/c on! Bit better return than the 740gl estate that only used to return 30mpg if i was very very lucky, and a full moon was shining!!
