XC90 D5 PP mpg, can I be bothered?

Journey there and back today of 83 miles.

'Normal' driving on the way managed 36.7mpg.

Seriously conservative driving on the way home at 60 (and 50 through the roadworks) managed 51.3mpg, 8 minutes slower.

Can I be bothered to always do this?

Fair play. I'm lucky to get 31mpg so you must be seriously light on the accelerator!

Very good, where you in eco mode or using adaptive cruise or pilot assist, I once managed 50 mpg on a 25 mile run on the A1 sitting behind a wagon doing around 57/58 mph.

Eco, winter wheels so 235/55R19 profile, pilot assist, very little traffic.

I regularly manage to get mid-high 40s mpg (and low 50s mpg once in a while) on long motorway journeys, cruising at 65 mph. Nearly getting 700 miles out of a tank.

Is this imperial or us mpg?

Have you noticed that when using adaptive cruise or pilot assist, the car is not coasting in eco mode?

Mine is UK mpg. I mostly drive in Comfort mode, with Plot Assist around half the time.

I am shocked... I'm happy to archive 27mpg on my V90 D5... And I can drive very eco to archive that!!! Something must be wrong with my car =(

Mine spends most of it's time driving the Mrs to work, 6ish miles of town driving, usually pretty heavy traffic, comfort drive mode. Ferrying to kids around most evenings. She gets 28.4mpg.

I normally get 32ish, town driving, less traffic, comfort mode.

We go to the Wales coast quite regularly, 130 miles of motorway and country roads, but I've never checked the mpg on that trip. I will do next time, but I'm not expecting great things, I like to make good progress...

I had a Vectra years ago and really tried as hard as I could for about 3 weeks to get the consumption up as high as I could, I got to 30mpg. I drove like a saint, but it averaged around 28mpg no matter how I drove it anyway. So in response to can I be bothered. No I can't.
