Uninstall maps

Does anyone know how to uninstall previously installed maps? I don’t really want to do a factory reset as I’ll lose everything else. The previous owner obviously installed some for Europe and now it keeps telling me there are updates.

Also, I updated the UK map via USB and it took ages. Is that normal?

In my experience it’s quicker to update the whole of Europe rather than just UK. Download takes longer though

It takes just over an hour to update the UK map.

I would just do that, then turn off auto updates.

For sure, update the whole map is quicker than the UK map.
Also use a faster USB drive or SSD drive can speed up the installation speed.

Do you just have to leave the USB stick in for several journeys? It doesn’t appear to update with the ignition off or am I missing a trick?

Yes just leave the USB installed and it will resume where it left off every time you restart the car until you get a message on the screen to say install complete.

Out of interest how much do Volvo charge for map updates and how often are they issued?

justj May 28th, 2019 11:43

They don’t charge. You just download on their support site. Not sure on frequency.

No charge. An update is issued every 2 or 3 months typically.
