850 AWD vs V70 R AWD?
What would the main difference be between a 1996 850 AWD and 1997 V70R AWD?

Hi the running gear gearbox m58, transfer box, propshaft all 4 driveshafts, rear diff and rear brakes rear axle beam are exactly the same. The auto boxes were the same upto 99 when the 4 speed adaptive was used for about 6 to 9 months in production then in late 99 the 5 speed adaptive was introduced for the last v70r classic and the xc70.

Up to chassis number 465738 it IS identical to the 850 AWD. From ch 465339 to ch: 630091 it changes, then changes again from ch 630092 on I won't bore you with the part numbers unless you want to dispute it; but you wouldn't want to do that, 'cause you know I'm right :) Cheers, T |

So by saying that comparing the chassis number from a v70r awd ending in 432026 wrt the 465738 you have mentioned above is in all respects a good match? If so, then fantastic. Been in touch with FRF Volvo this afternoon so providing them the chassis number from my own 855 AWD vs that kindly given to me by an ebayer who sold his 98' Volvo V70R AWD the other day on ebay, so they will do a comparison for me to double confirm. If it looks good following all the above, then will certainly start the engine rework in 2012. |
