For Sale 2000 V40 2.0T T&T in need of some engine attention.

Hi Folks !
My v40 2.0T passed its MOT today which might sound like great news (and it is) but sadly I have to sell it on as either a project or breaking opportunity for someone with a little more time and focused effort available to them.

First here's the spec and what ive replaced/fixed/changed

12 months MOT
1.5 months TAX
123k Miles
Electric Windows Mirrors & SunRoof, Air Con (nice and cold),Cruise Control, Heated seats, (Winter pack).
Double Din Radio/Tape/Player
Grey cloth interior.

4 brand new Westlake brand tyres last week for the MOT (195/60/15)
2 brand new genuine Volvo Coil packs and leads.
Replaced MAF, Thermostat temp sensor and two vacuum sensors (inlet manifold and intercooler), headlamp wiper motor and oil cooler All got from forum members.
New inlet manifold gasket
New set of genuine volvo spark plugs

I bought the car a year ago and soon discovered some slight problems which have been documented on my posts in this forum and pretty much overcome by the help of the great forum members here and their outstanding generosity .

The problem's the car currently has is firstly an oil leak from the VVT cam/pulley bearing or seal on the head, oil is leaking out at a fairly slow rate (I've put in 1 pint of oil in the last 6 months)
The leak appears to be caused by the pulley running with a slight wobble which may be caused by wear in the bearing? if there is one or something else, i just dont know.
It has what sounds like the VVT failing noise except its not there when cold and constant once its hot rather than periodic

Second there is a slight oil leak from the turbo oil return feed pipe, i have a new gasket and oil seal for both ends of the pipe that are ready to be fitted and i'll include with the car.

Third since i got the car i noticed the bleed screw for the lower radiator hose was missing and where it should be had been glue filled and blocked up, there are signs that it leaks or weeps coolant over time but im unsure how much is actually coming from there as it never blows out when the system is fully under pressure or even appears to be dripping at all, just a wet witness mark where coolant has been, more recently the car appeared to be losing a more noticeable amount of engine coolant by looking at the header tank not a huge amount but the tank would go down to below minimum after about a week of driving, i was unsure whether this was the engine burning water through some sort of slight head gasket leak or if the lower radiator hose was leaking enough to be losing this much water over a week.

Fourth, the engine management bulb needs replacing, as it appears it was removed by some cowboy who didnt want to fix the problems i discovered

Apart from that the car is fully functional and i drive it daily without any issues to stop it driving.

So yes it may seem like i bought a turkey but its served me well for the last year and it doesnt seem to far away from being totally straight.
The MOT tester said it looked in very good condition in general.

Cosmetically its not perfect and there are some slight scrapes and dings which are shown in the photos.

I have a big bunch of old bills and a service book with stamps up to about 80K i think (from memory)

So in summation I think the car would be ideal for someone who wants to drop a good engine into it , rebuild the VVT/Pulley or needs the car for spares or wants to break it, there's lots of good bits on it,

Hopefully anyone reading this can appreciate im being totally honest and open as to the condition of the car so there will be no hidden suprises for the buyer that i am aware of and ive probably painted a much worse picture of the car than it deserves but i believe in honesty first and formost and dont want to mislead anyone.

I'm in Central London (Notting Hill)

make me a sensible offer

Dont be shy now ;)
It drives perfectly, pulls nice and fast in every gear I'm sure it will be a driving workhorse for 6 months at least in its current condition or break it for its Turbo, Cruise control, heated seats, Brand new tyres, Brand News Coil packs, plugs and leads. MAF and other sensors.

Otherwise It'll be going up on eBay.
