Pads...what would you fit?

Pads all round V40 D3 what would you fit?

Padgid £55
Brembo £64
Genuine £120

Or can I get them cheaper elsewhere?! :-)

Just genuine Volvo parts... apparantly aftermarket ones rattle in Volvos

as Phillg1986 said above - but get a quote from FRF Swansea quoting "C" you might well find they come in much cheaper than buying locally.

Another vote for genuine, I’ve tried loads of aftermarket over the years on my different volvos and genuine is the only way really.

I had new discs and pads fitted by Kwikfit on my old XC90. They were absolutely fine and i had no issues at all.

I’m sure they were fine but for what you can get genuine for now I would personally always go genuine now. Genuine pads and disks lasted 100k on my s60 which you just wouldn’t get from aftermarket.

I actually found ELK Performance offered the best price for pads on my car

Depends how long you are planning on keeping the car and your annual mileage :).

For what it is worth, the only other pads that come close are those manufactured by the Danish company of Rolunds who apparently were the OEM producer for many Volvos - I used them several times when re-fitting the 850 - certainly couldn't tell any difference in performance between them and genuine Volvo pads up to 2012. (When placed side by side there was no detectable difference in colour etc.)

However, I think they might now be manufactured in India but if they are the Rolunds spec I don't think they'd be any different if they've got the Rolunds name on them.

I remember fitting non Volvo Pads in my 1987 740 Turbo many years ago a few weeks before going on holiday to Scotland, (£22 v £50 for genuine at the time) all was ok until I was driving down a long mountain pass and using the brakes quite a lots and they started to fade away until there was hardly any braking at all. I drove straight to Oban and to the Volvo dealers and bought a set of Volvo pads and fitted them at the cottage we were staying in. They were far better. I did that same run a few more times and the brakes were perfect with genuine pads. So instead of saving £28 it cost me a total of £72. But could have been worse if I had not made one of those bends on that road.
