Can I change the A/C pulley only?

Hey.

My aircon doesn't work properly and I suspect that the pulley has gone bad.

Do I need to change the whole aircon compressor or can I just change the pulley? I can't do the job myself.

I have seen SiRobb's video on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOjqjR8Mz64&t=379s) regarding the issue which I might end up do if the pulley can't be replaced.

Cheers

The easiest and cheapest fix is to do SiRobb's fix of using shims.

The second easiest (and most expensive) fix is to replace the whole compressor.

The third easiest and cheap fix is to replace the AC clutch and pulley bearing.

Measure the gap on the pully and shim if needed.
The one on my current V70 didn't work properly, measured at 1.1mm. Shimmed it with welding wire to around 0.6mm, it's been working fine for around 18 months now since I did it.
I found a credit card makes a good feeler gauge - the ones with the raised print are around 1.1mm on the lettering and 0.6mm on the rest of it.

It was sirobb (cheshired5) videos I used to fix mine.
