Stupid idea - R on eBay headgasket?
 

Having an absolutely stupid idea, there’s an ‘07’ plate V70R on eBay at not much money as it’s advertised as having a suspect blown head gasket.
I’ve read that these engines can suffer broken cylinder liners, was wondering which is the most likely to have failed on a 200k engine, the HG or a bust liner?

Head gasket I’d be confident to change, but suspect a liner may write-off the engine. Read that shimming can fix it - I can understand how that prevents the issue, but not how it can fix a broken barrel?

Not going anywhere near if it’s likely to be new engine time!
