Sadly, putting cheap parts will mean disaster in little time. As for the noise, the belt needs removed and all pulleys spun by hand - the alternator one also has a clutch. But more importantly, on a D5 engine this is an urgent repair: if the belt fails, most times the engine gets valves bent. I would also inspect the pulleys on the cam belt, if suspecting a previous owner installed low cost parts

To echo the above, don’t delay in looking at this squeal.

It’s only about a 20 minute job to take the aux belt off and check to see if it clears without the belt on.

Do you have any history of belt and tensioner changes on the car?

Change the alternator clutch pulley with some urgency.
It's seizing up which you can see from how the tensioner is bouncing around like a **** trying to compensate.
If you aren't going genuine Volvo, INA makes them anyway and INA own brand ones are equally good. <£25

If you have no documented belt history, prepare to do the auxiliary and timing belts and pulleys too.
A neglected D5 timing area will fail without correct and timely maintenance ideally using high quality parts.

All good advice so far....

I agree with getting the stuff changed.....just for future reference and to confirm what is/ isn't knackered - get a solid bar ie breaker bar, long screw driver, probably even a long bit of wood ie 18-24" long and put one end to your ear and one end on to each component ie power steering pump, alternator, pulley tensioners etc and you will hear a different noise from each.....you'll soon pinpoint the noise. give it a go , pls confirm where the noise is from. My alternator pulley packed up at 110-120k from memory and made a horrible, harsh metallic clatter that went about 1000 rpm.....
HTH,
Nobby
