G Reg Volvo 240 GLT estate - 64,000 miles

Owned by me for a handful of years, my plan was to lightly restore it to exceptional condition. However, I find myself wrapped up with a major restoration of another marque.

The car: Silver, black leather interior, manual, tow bar with twin electrics. Last of the high compression engines and the older style indent tailgate glass. Mileage original. A very very nice original car with excellent paint. Some light storage dints to some panels. Most will come out via paintless removal, but some paint likely along with a set of under side glass decals required to make mint/concours. The important bit: no rust to rear arches, sill ends, tailgate surround (inner or outer) or lower edge, or below or in the corners of the rear crossmember. The car had a full service about a thousand miles ago and included new cambelt, water pump, auxiliary belts and radiator change. It's had front tyres, new battery and a part exhaust as well during my ownership, from memory.

So, it will need some paint/bodywork, there is a small nick in the headlining (as new one supplied), a little wear to the driver's bolster (spare passenger seat supplied) and comes with a boot liner, aluminium roof rack, black retractable load cover. Spares include bumper trim and at least one new headlight reflector.

£6500 secures.

I realise to some this is too high a figure (I had the same before selling my previous Volvos for a significant price) but feel this car has the potential to be in the £10-12k territory finished. Appreciate the classic market is flat at the moment, but it's available now if you're searching. And without the cost of significant metal fabrication due to rust - which most face these days.

PM me with a telephone number if interested and I'll talk you through the car in more detail. Based in Bristol.

Hi, I’m unable to pm you as a new member.
Is the car still for sale?

Many apologies, I've only just revisited my post to see your reply.

Since my post I've decided to carry out a very light restoration to it (Volvo tailgate harness x 2, new headlight reflectors, new Volvo indicator assemblies and aerial), plus a light finger nail size scuff on the OSR wing which will be repainted and feathered into the NSR door. The rock solid tailgate has a couple of scuffs and some chips along the lower edge so will be painted too.

I currently intend to keep it (and may sale my mint C70 ph1 instead) - especially as on removing the rear wheel arch lower mouldings and rear valance 'skirt' there was absolutely no rust on the 240's sill ends or leading edge of the rear lower wings. Or anywhere else for that matter.

Best wishes in your search.

Stuart
