I have tinkered with cars for a number of years now which is why im deeming the following question as nothing short of embarrassing so please feel free to poke fun and ridicule at you leisure but only after giving me the answer to….

Where the hell is the air filter on a 2004 S40 2.0D

I`ll be honest ive not had much time to investigate but popped the bonnet the other day and couldn’t see a box the right size unless the filter is vertical rather than horizontal....

feel free to draw me a map if need be

As you look into the engine bay it is on the right hand side just in front of the battery. It is rectangular and has pipes leading into it.

Thank you.... i did look at it but dismissed it as it is screwed down rather than clipped in to place as other cars ive had.....
